As we reach the end of 2021, we want to reflect on what a year it has been. For some of us, it was a tumultuous year but among this, there were stories of hope and resilience. And while we continue to face uncertainty, we are still committed to making the world a brighter and braver place through the magic of Mozzo coffee.
Here are some highlights from Grant Lang (founder) of the year at Mozzo, and some clues on what is to come to build on the company's mission.
C2C FUND™ UPDATE
This month marked 1 year since we opened the first maternity clinic in Idjwi, built with C2C Fund™ investment and our partner cooperative Rebuild Women’s Hope (RWH). We are incredibly happy to see the clinic thrive this year and welcome hundreds of babies into the world since it opened.
Following its launch on 15th December 2020, Mozzo was keen to ensure the sustainability of the clinic and supported Rebuild Women's Hope with operational costs in the first year. Now that the clinic is fully up and running, RWH intends to continue funding the clinic's operating costs through its contribution from coffee sales.
As of 14th December 2021, £96,103.90 has been invested into the C2C Fund™ from both the social dividend built into Mozzo’s business model and additional investment from Mozzo to ensure the clinic was still built and funded during the pandemic. It has been incredible to witness the difference C2C Fund™ makes to our coffee-growing communities.
Now the clinic in Idjwi is established and flourishing, C2C Fund™ will be investing in other coffee community projects in 2022. We have recently partnered with a cooperative in Nicaragua and hope to visit the coffee-growing community in early 2022.
SUSTAINABLE COFFEE AROUND THE WORLD
On Monday 20th September 2021, the sun shone in Paris as we opened the doors to our first Mozzo Boutique in France. Some said we were crazy to be transforming an old estate agents office into a shiny coffee boutique during a pandemic. Yet we knew how important it is to be brave at a time like this.
Rather than hunker down and focus solely on protecting profit, we believe stepping out and trying something bold is the best strategy to make a positive impact in this world. Our boutique has been warmly welcomed to Paris and the surrounding neighbourhoods.

CAN WE MAKE IT THE BEST COFFEE IN THE US?
We are making our mark on America. Having already introduced our coffee to the American market through our partnership with CitizenM hotels, we will be building our team in the USA throughout 2022 and beyond to share Mozzo coffee with the US.
