• The Cooperative

  • Established in 2013 by female rights activist Marceline Budza to empower women in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) through financial education and independence, Rebuild Women’s Hope  is a coffee cooperative led by female coffee farmers on the remote island of Idjwi in Lake Kivu, Eastern DRC. 

    With rich volcanic soils and altitudes exceeding 2,000 metres, the conditions on Idjwi Island are perfect for growing superb quality Arabica coffee.
