With Easter approaching super fast, here’s our elevated take on the McDonald’s viral Hot Cross Bun latte, using our iconic HOUSE espresso blend. Plus, we’ve also whipped up a caffeine-free hot cross bun latte recipe for the little ones, so that you can enjoy this awesome Easter coffee together as a family over the long weekend.
Syrup: Step 1
Put all the ingredients in a small saucepan over a medium heat
Syrup: Step 2
Whisk constantly until sugar dissolves and the mixture is bubbling
Syrup: Step 3
Reduce the heat to low and stir for further 1 to 2 minutes
Syrup: Step 4
Set the syrup aside to cool off
Syrup: Step 5
Once cold, strain the syrup using a fine mesh strainer and pour it in a jar. Make sure you remove the cinnamon stick to avoid the syrup from getting stronger.
Tip 1: the hot cross bun syrup can be made ahead of time and kept in the fridge for several days

Put 15-20 ml of hot cross bun syrup into a mug

18g ground coffee in; 36 - 40g brewed espresso out
26 - 30 second extraction

Add the double shot of espresso to the syrup and mix it all together

Prepare your milk using a milk frother. If you don’t have a milk frother at home then use a whisk and whisk the hot milk until it has almost doubled in size

Fill the mug with frothed milk until full
Latte: Step 6
Serve immediately and enjoy. Sprinkle with ground cinnamon for the added touch
