October Bulletin

Pour a coffee and pull up a pew, here’s our October update…

C2C Fund reaches over £140k

Since it’s official formation in 2015, our C2C (Community2Community) Fund has always been our way of ensuring positive change is fuelled with every cup of Mozzo coffee. Donating a fixed amount from every bean we sell; we have now contributed over £142,797.74 into the Fund. We could not do it without your support. By buying Mozzo coffee you’ve helped enable infrastructure improvement for Muungano Cooperative in DRC; build the Hospital of Hope for the community on Idjwi Island; enable safety and learning improvements for 4 schools in rural Honduras; and most recently help get us on our way to funding the build of a new intensive care unit and operating theatre (for the Hospital of Hope) through our Life Saving Coffee collection. Not stopping there, we’ve also been working behind the scenes on phase two of the school project with Sol Café in Honduras this year, more to follow in the coming weeks.

Celebrating 1 year of buzzing coffee

This month, during UK Coffee Week, we celebrated the first birthday of Buzzed Coffee Bar; our partnership space with CitizenM hotels. Sharing caffeine and chats with the good people of London, it’s been a tremendous year of building community and friendship around the iconic landmark of the Tower of London. We commemorated our anniversary with a week of events and celebrations including “golden bean” goodie bag giveaways, a Life-Saving Coffee day and opportunity to win an immersive experience day at Mozzo World.

We first started our relationship with CitizenM Hotels back in 2016 in London and, through a matching of people, service and offer values, we’ve grown with them across the rest of the city, throughout Paris and across the US. Watch this space for what’s next…

Introducing Noella

Also during UK Coffee Week, we introduced the world to Noella; the sweetest, softest and latest addition to the team. Noella’s namesake is the inspiration for her creation, an almost-4-year-old girl living on Idjwi Island and the first baby born at the Hospital of Hope in Dec 2020. A universal symbol of innocence, we’ve brought our little bespoke bear on to help raise funds for the intensive care unit and operating theatre needed at the Hospital. We celebrated her launch with the most showstopping cake, made by our very own star baker and member of the finance team, Ellie. Tasting as good as it looked, the team enjoyed chocolate sponge with coffee buttercream made using Rebuild Women’s Hope coffee, of course. Huge thanks for your talent and effort, Ellie!

Fuelling the future at IDS

Since Jan 2020, we’ve been helping fuel the future brains in world development through our coffee partnership with IDS (Institute of Development Studies) based at Sussex University in Brighton. Led by Ness Donaldson (Head of Facilities), and enabled by our contract catering partner Thomas Franks, it is a remarkable collaboration that solidifies our shared values in people and progression. We are very proud to now feature on their café walls, promoting the people and purpose behind the coffee. Ness says:
We're delighted to partner with Mozzo coffee. First and foremost, the coffee is delicious. We never tire of being told we serve great coffee! We also value and recognise the fundraising and development work that Mozzo does for coffee-farming communities around the world.
